Properly Applying Hand and Body Lotions
There are a number of persons who have experienced purchasing various types of hand and body lotions, but have seen no improvements in the condition of their dry skin. So, what could be the cause for this?
First and foremost, you need to consider the way in which you apply hand and body lotions. These types of lotions are designed to moisturize the skin; therefore, applying the lotion while your skin is dry, will not be of any help to you. Your skin needs to be moisturized while it is still wet; therefore, the best time to apply hand and body lotions is when you have just come out of the shower. If you are using lotion that contains sunscreen, then you should apply it just as you get out of the pool.
When you get out of the bath or shower, you should not wipe off your skin using a towel; instead, you should rub the lotion deep into your skin until your pores have absorbed all of the lotion. There are quite a number of benefits for properly applying hand and body lotions. For the individuals who wear makeup, properly applying moisturizer will help to prevent your makeup dehydrating your skin, and it will also give it a healthy and beautiful appearance. Additionally, properly applying hand and body lotions during the winter will provide protection from cold and dry winds.
The type of hand and body lotions that you use is dependent on the type of skin that you have:
• Oily – You should not avoid using hand and body lotions because you have oily skin. All you need to do is ensure that your moisturizer is non-comedogenic and oil free, so that it does not clog your pores.
• Sensitive – Buy hand and body lotions that do not contain allergens, fragrance or parabens. In order to prevent irritation of your skin, it is best that your moisturizer is unscented.
• Dry – If you have dry skin, it is also advisable that you refrain from using moisturizers that contain fragrances. Use moisturizers that are oil based and unscented. Here are some other tips for applying hand and body lotions.
• Do not keep your moisturizers in the bathroom. The moisture that comes from the bath or the shower, tend to cause bacteria to form on your products; therefore, they should be kept in a place that is dry and cool.
• Apply your lotion generously.
• It is okay if you use sunscreen over your moisturizer, or a moisturizer that contains SPF. Your moisturizer should at least have SPF 15.
• Do not use a number of products on your skin, as this may damage your skin.
